Frequently Asked Questions

My sessions are at least 3 hours long. This is enough time to make good progress, but beyond that, some people get decision fatigue and prefer to pick up again on another day. That being said, I do offer longer sessions upon request!
It is best that you create a distraction-free environment for our sessions. If you have small children, I recommend arranging childcare during our time together.

I don’t know. This depends not only on how much stuff you have and on how much of your home you want to organize, but also on how quickly you can make decisions about whether to keep items or let them go. I’ll be happy to give you a rough estimate once I know more about how we work together. Right now, I can only tell you it’ll take longer than it does on TV.
-
Well, basically, any rooms in your home. I work in bedrooms (including closets), bathrooms, kitchens (including pantries), entryways, playrooms, home offices, laundry rooms, you name it! When the weather is mild, I also work in garages and storage units.
-
Please don’t! Your “mess” actually allows me to understand you better. For example, if I see a pile of shoes by the door, I know that this is a pain point and I can recommend a system to keep your shoes tidy. Understanding which items end up cluttering a specific space, and why, is the best way to figure out how to prevent it from happening.

It might be a bit different each time, depending on the situation. As a general rule, I help you sort through your items to decide what to keep and what to get rid of, then we organize them in a way that makes sense to you. My goal is for you to be able to maintain the system long after I’m gone. I’ve also helped my clients tackle their to-do list, assemble furniture, go through their mail, return phone calls, finally hang that artwork…

Well, maybe. But if you could, wouldn’t you have done it already? Besides, it’ll be more productive with an expert, trust me on this! I have received professional education in organizing principles (NAPO and Marie Kondo), in addition to my years of hands-on experience. My job is to work in YOUR best interests.
-
Don’t be! I’m not here to judge, I’m here to help. I’ve seen it all, and I’m excited to dive in! My goal is to make your home feel like a hug after a long day. (Also, I’m bound by the NAPO code of ethics, so our sessions are confidential!)
-
NO! We do not yet know what you will be keeping and how we will be storing it, so buying bins now is premature – they would probably become clutter. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there!
-
If we’re talking about something small (a bag of clothes, a box of books or miscellaneous kitchen items – basically, anything that fits in my car), then I will be happy to drop off your donations for you. For anything larger, like furniture, we can schedule a third-party hauler (my clients get a discount with 1-800-Got-Junk). If you want to sell your items, I can make recommendations – find out more in this blog post.

I am one of only a handful of organizers to be both a member of NAPO as well as certified by Marie Kondo. I have a calm, supportive presence, and I’ve been told that in that way, I am more like Marie Kondo than, say, the gals from The Home Edit.
-
Why, yes! I even got a certificate of study as a Brain-Based Conditions Specialist from NAPO. See here for more details.
